Default Electric wing mirrors

Hi,
Got my Scooby at weekend and you know when you take it home. Then clean it and find things wrong with it…
Well this is a strange one and it is to do with the electric wing mirrors.
It is a problem on both sides…
When try and use the control to move the mirrors into a position of your choice, they don’t move. You can hear the mechanism behind the mirrors operating but no mirror movement.

I got a version 8 impreza, are they wing mirrors easy to get off?

Many thanks
Dean

Sounds as though the gearing is stripped.

Version 8, I'm not certain of, but on earlier cars it's remove the plastic cover over the inside of the mirror, remove door card, undo 3 bolts, release wiring and off it comes.

Have you tried pushing in the glass on both mirrors? Could be they have come out a bit from the electric motor housing thus not connecting properly.

But do they have to be black? Can't you get them sprayed?

I'd be inclined to swap at least one out with a known working one to check it IS faulty.

If you go aftermarket, you might lose the electrical adjust. Do they electrically fold too?
