Default Headlamp butchering Question??

Hey Guys,
Im now getting really hacked off with the lighting especially cos I live in the Stix a bit.
Have used driving lamps for high beam but this is not much help with an approaching car and having to hit dip!!
Now I know that the best solution so far is to retrofit projectors from a merc or similar but what about changing the reflector dish to one from another car??
Is it the mirror surround on scooby classics that is the crap part of the light??
My significant other (the ol crow hehe!) has a Satria and the standard headlights are way way better than the scooby (you can see where Im going) and not dissimilar in shape - shes now also got rally bulbs and they really do give fantastic light!!
If I hacked the reflectors out of a set of those (much cheaper than projectors) what world of poo would I be getting myself into??
Any thoughs?????

I doubt anyone else has tried....

I have a pair of tiny projector fogs that add to dipped beam on demand, even if strictly illegal to use without fog....

P.S. You could mount them in the grille ?
