how 'bad' are H4 HID's?
Hay guys, just a quick request for pics and experiences if anyone would be so kind?
I am just about to buy one of Bob'5 HID conversion kits for my 52 bugeye wrx I was planning on the 6000k kit and 'matching' LED bulbs. As such I was having a quick mooch round to see what opinions other people had used regarding sidelights. Problem is having now done some digging there somes to be a bit of a theme around peoples opinions on H4 bulbs and how they 'scatter' light out?
Could anyone provide me pics of they're efforts preferably H4 bugeyes (with sidelights) and how they have found them? Its a second car mostly used by the wife so dont want her getting flashed all the time!
Cheers in advance! Dave

Hi Dave,
Put it this way, nobody has gone from SuperHIDs back to halogens and I've run them on my own car for years now.
You won't get any glare, correctly fitted and aligned.
For feedback from those that actually have them on their cars take a look at the GB thread
Try them, you won't ever go back to halogens.

And all that positivity from the guy who sells 'em....who'd ha' thought it?
The H4 HIDs are a b@stard contraption. They try to replace a twin filament design, in which each fliament is placed EXACTLY at the focal point of the reflector, (so that one fliament produces main beam, and the other, dip beam), with a device in which either the SINGLE arc producing the light MOVES, or a shield moves in front of part of it.
The result is either a decent main beam with a cr@p dip, or vice-versa.
Since the law requires the dips to be tested for cutoff etc, they go for decent dips.
This inevitably results in cr@p main beams......poor throw and loads of scatter.
Never mind what someone SELLING these things says, look at posts from people who HAVE removed them, Harvey, for one
And the ones I helped to fit were the worst beam pattern I've EVER seen..............one of BOB's kits
If you want HID on a car with H4, go projector retrofit.
If not, stick with upgraded bulbs.
But DON'T be fooled by claims that H4 HIDs are perfect: more light, yes, but where's it GOING?

I just don't think that H4 HIDs can be anything but a b@stard contraption, inaccurately focussed etc.
The fact that lots of people like them simply says how CRAP the OE Scoob H4 lights are. They put so little light where it should be that people need to fit 300W Halogen equivalents to be able to see properly.
Oh, and I have nothing against BOB5, either.
The only difference between me and BOB is that HE's selling stuff.
And I keep getting infractions

Best thing I can suggest is to try them and see. I'm so confident that you'll like them that I will give you a full refund in the highly unlike event that you don't like them and want to send them back. Can't say fairer than that.
Nobody that has tried our SuperHIDs has ever gone back to halogens.
Retrofitting so far is a pain (however effective) and direct fit SuperHIDs are the best solution for the vast majority of people.
When Zak from Mocom Racing fitted a set (H4 Bi-beam) to his car he was very impressed.

have to agree with alcazar - cars, not just subarus, with hid bulbs fitted into halogen reflectors are just not right. the beam goes everywhere apart from on the road. yes they look bright compared to halogens, as does a 500 watt floodlight against a candle but you end up with the same result - a massive spread of unfocused light. not good at all.

i have a bi h4 kit which i got from flea bay as bob ran out of stock ive no complaints both dipped and full beam are 200% better then my uprated halogens
cost me £110 nearly 2 years ago
give them a try and the offer of your money back is a great option
led sidelights is also a must otherwise it looks odd i also have the 6000k kit

scoobyverysoon post up some pictures of your hid beam pattern. this is mine at 25 foot notice how there is no spurious light output above the cut off line.

this shows high & dipped beam together, no scatter whatsoever.
