1995 STI Type RA Spoiler Brakelight on all the time
Hello,
Newbie 1st post. I did a search but couldn't find the answer.
Picked up my 1995 STI Type RA tonight and the previous owner txted me to say that as I drove off he noticed that the spoiler brake light was on.
The LED high level brake light strip on is illuminated when the lights on the car are switched on and intensifies in brightness when the brake pedal is pressed. Is this normal behaviour?
Taa.

This sort of behaviour is usually down to a poor earth somewhere.
First port of call for me would be the rear lights: pull out the bulbholders and check all bulbs for signs of corrosion, cleaning any off that are corroded.
Then check the wiring to the spoiler, which may have chafed where it passes through the bootlid, or elsewhere, leading to a slight short circuit, which is all you need for LEDs.
Check also the rear light wiring CONNECTORS for corrosion etc.

Issue turned out to be iffy aftermarket LED stop/tail light bulbs. Swapped back for ye olde traditional filament bulbs and now ok.
