I was worried that the Odyssey PC680 that I fitted to my classic may not handle being used for mainly short journeys when I fitted it and now it seems my worries have been confirmed
Before I decide to change the battery I want to make sure it's not something else at fault.
I've noticed on the PowerFC that the battery is charging at 13.8 - 13.9 Volts when first started. After a few miles this drops to around 13.3 - 13.5 Volts,is this normal.
With the car running and the battery showing say 13.5 volts,if I switch on the rear window heater it will drop to about 12 volts then go back to 13.5 Volts. Is this normal or could the alternator be faulty ?
Also, can this type of battery be charged with a normal car battery charger ?

I have a new PC680 & if the car sits idle for 4 or 5 days it goes flat. They can easily be charged by normal car chargers though. I think these batteries are great for cranking power & are extremley light but they do not hold charge for long periods of time. IMO.

You need a battery conditioner........mine goes flat after about 3-4 days.
I use a c-tek xs800...about 30 quid ... and never had a problem since.
Comes with leads and a plug so you can attach it quickly without opening the bonnet.

This battery is really annoying me now, wish i'd never fitted it
I've been stuck twice now as it drops to 11 volts within 1 day of being parked up and won't fire the car up at that. I'm not in a position to use a battery conditioner as the car isn't parked where I can plug the unit in.
I'm sure the problems got worse since I fitted my Prosport gauges as they are connected to a constant 12v,maybe they are draining the battery ?
I'm thinking of fitting a battery in the boot now instead so I can use something with more guts. What would be recommended that doesn't cost loads ?
