Default quick couple of ecu questions

hey guys ......can u put an 07 ecu in a 97 if there both sti's? cos ive been told i wld need a new ecu in my 97 sti as u cant remap them bt u can remap the newer ones.........

This came up fairly recently. No, you can't simply swap an ECU from another model year of car into yours and expect it to work. You'd need to make a raft of wiring loom and hardware changes under the bonnet, and the cost and hassle of doing so would be sufficient to make it a more expensive option, all-told, than installing a dedicated programmable ECU.

Just pick up a secondhand PowerFC.
As you are just looking for remap-ability i believe.
So there is no point in going for something higherend/higher priced ECU (Autronic/Vipec/Solaris)
