OK, a couple of points:
The existing wiring MAY be up to it, but there have been horror stories of most models where higher wattage bulbs have caused, at best, melted wiring and connectors, at worst, fire. The thin wiring can also lead to volts drop and premature blueing of the bulb
Secondly, why not use so-called "uprated" bulbs, ie having the same WATTAGE, (therefore drawing the same current), as a standard bulb, but producing more light?
Examples are Philips and Osram 90% uprated.
Halfords do a similar one, on BOGOF at the moment, and made by GE.
Finally, higher wattage bulbs are often a disapointment, since OPTICALLY, they CAN be quite poor. If the filament is not EXACTLY in the right place, or EXACTLY the right length, or at EACACTLY the right angle, light will be scattered instead of focussed where it should be There have been many instances where higher wattage bulbs have PERFORMED significantly worse than standard bulbs
The three uprated bulbs I mention above are all optically accurate and perform well
The Philips and Osram ones are available at decent prices off the internet.

You are trying to get 50% more current down those horrible thin wires. The result will be even more voltage drop which reduces the light output.
Either fit the bulbs mentioned above or rewire the lights with decent size cable and relays.
