Default What Headlights for Classic

What is the general consensus of you guys for replacement headlights for a classic? The standard lights are the poorest I have ever experienced on any car ever in almost forty years of driving.
My car does not get used at night because of this. I have had the car for over ten years now and I must change the lights for something better.
I have seen posts on HID, are these strictly legal?

Thanks

As far as I know HID are not road legal. Save up your ££'s and get morettes.
Also dont be tempted to get the cheap copies from ebay, as they are pi$h.
You could upgrade your foglights by removing them and going to driving / spot lights. The daddies are the PIAA 80XT or you can go the cheaper route and get Hella 500's.

Also have you tried just improving your standard headlight bulbs to better ones ?

Thanks for reply Slipstream. Cost not an issue (offshore worker). But I do want something that works both on dipped and main beam. Must also be road legal as I do not want to have to change for MOT.

If you have time on ya hands why not try retrofitting some OEM Bi-Xenon projectors like I have. (MOT Friendly )

Feel free to join the many SN members who have our HIDs fitted to their cars:

https://www.scoobynet.com/group-buys...id-kit-gb.html

MOT friendly but not strictly 'road legal' Nobody has had any issues with any of our kits and we have sold a fair few.

Thanks Connor, glad you liked them,........

In terms of cost, well thats a hard one mate. You have to first obtain the OEM Projectors (Bi-Xenons are needed for Classics) and the appropriate Ballast - Usually from a accident damaged vehicle. .

Then its just a case of fitting them into the OEM Subaru Headlight

Schumacher and I are the only two Classics running such conversions in the UK....

Very nice work Darms. Do you think there would be enough space to fit two small projectors one for high and one for low or is space tight behind the headlight?
