Default Tempermental auto raise window

I've a 01 STi bugeye. The drivers window will not auto raise any more. When I hold the switch for a second to make it auto raise it goes 95% of the way up then lowers to halfway down. This applies if the door is open or shut. I have taken the door card off and everything seems well lubed and free to move without any play.

There is also a rattle when the door is closed with the window down but this has been there since new so I assume unrelated.

If I raise the window manually with short presses on the button it will go all the way up and stay there.

I've tried the search function and not found anything. Is it a know fault with an easy fix?

Cheers, Steve

Question

Most likely either the switch or the relay sticking.

Can you try a known working switch?

BTW: did you know that the switches are actually a Nissan product?
