Morretts Again!

Phil,
The difference is, for example, I now feel guilty coming into my road even with dips on as the beams shine straight into the lounge of the house at the end ... it's quite a long road! The old lights weren't even close. Maybe they needed adjusting!!
Whatever, looking forward chatting to you about it at the RR meet
Cheers
Simon

Yes I have read all the threads on the subject, reading all the various comments made on the pro`s and con`s on the subject It`s still difficult to decide which way to go.
The two options I have decided on are:- retain the existing Bug eyes and fit the hid conversion, or Fit Morretts with Philips vision + bulbs. Both would cost in the region of £450. I can`t afford both so which way to go folks?.I would appreciate your comments.

Why fit HID's to Bug eyes the lights are good
Morettes IMHO need HID but the car needs Morettes if that makes sense
So my advice Morettes with bulbs and get saving for HID latter

I'd agree with Phil. Put the Morrettes on and fit some decent bulbs. That will be OK until you can get the HIDs. Before I had the HIDs done, I was using Osram bulbs (I think - they were fitted by the dealer) - these weren't bad at all. I would expect a 15 - 20% improvement over these bulbs when fitting HIDs.

If you order your Morretes from GGR they come with Philips vision bulbs installed, also haggle them on price as you can buy them cheaper than GGR are offering, but once you inform them they seem more than happy to do business (£300 deliverd next day)+ £20 to paint but i arranged this myself.

I fitted Morettes partly for styling, partly to go HID later.
I am confused by Phil's statement, I found the standard lights awful, whereasa even with standard bulbs the Morettes are a huge improvement, to the extent I will fit Phillips bulbs and not bother with HID for the time being anyway.
I do think Morettes need careful alignment thouugh, I had mine done at TSL who used the proper gadget to do it.

I agree with the quality of the standard bug eyes, it wasn't till I got a lift back in my old R-reg Escort that I realised how bad they are.
Even when clean the light penetration is not that good and ends abruptly not that far in front of the car, the spread of the light is not that good either.
Hence I am having Morettes fitted tomorrow morning of ScoobySport.

I must admit that the Morettes DO need proper adjustment had mine done at a MOT station at the suggestion of Scoobysport and there was an imediate improvement
As for the Bug eyes I had a Volvo T4 before the scooby and the bug eyes easily out shown the T4's. also stand by that they out perform the Morettes with Standard Bulbs
But then if we all agreed with each other this BBS would be boring
One thing I think will all agreed cosmectically (SPELLING) Morettes are a vast improvement over the Bug Eyes

Yes not actually sure what this rolling road thing is all about but thought it would be interesting to see how all the PPP's compare and wether that ITG filter does really make a difference
and of course put somes faces to some names

I'm interested in the PPP figures too, and want to compare with my set up as frankly I was disappointed with PPP so chose to go the Scoobysport decat route at much less cost. I am sure my car is at least as quick as the PPP car I test drove.
So I'm interested in seeing the real world figures.
I'm not anti PPP at all, had it in my MY99 and thought it was the DB's.
Having said that, I *might* by then have had another little tweak that might make some difference.
The RR should be good fun tho, whatever happens...
Cheers
