Default Clock

My clock in the dash is playing up a bit. When I turn the ignition on, the clock may or may not show up, so to make it show up I have to tap the dash above the clock. What could be the problem and how might I fix it?

2000 Classic Impreza

Cheers

Darren

Probably the bulb. Replaced mine a couple of years ago with same symptoms.
You need to take the instrument cluster out. IIRC bulbs are held in plastic holder which screws out with a half turn.

Thanks. But the clock on a classic is part of the speedo and to do this I would need to remove speedo.

Darren was your clock issue not the bulb?

I am not sure. The LCD that the clock is displayed does not illuminate some times. If it does not, then I have to tap the dash to make it illuminate.

That was exactly what mine did (MY99). Eventually it died completely. Changed bulb and it has been perfect since.
