Earthing Mod info
#1
I was intending to do the earthing mod mentioned on this board some time ago.I have collected together the necesary cable and connectors but I now cannot find the thread that gave the original info as to how other people had gone about it. Search has been off line for a while now so I was wondering if anyone could give me any clues. I could just have a go myself and cable to the existing earth points and the battery but other peoples experiences would be helpfull.
Many thanks in advance.
Craig.

The reason for the mod is that apparantely it smooths out the engine response and tickover IIRC.
The reason for earthing the strut towers is that that is where the battery is earthed to. The only reason for earthing the Intake manifold to the Drivers side strut is it saves running a wire all the way back to the battery.
Cheers

I was just at my dealer the other day (in Tokyo) and they have an earthing kit for all models now - for 12,800 yen !!
The right tower connection should help sound quality from the stereo (if std and earthed, it is usually connected there). Adds at least 25bhp

Hi AJ,
I'll be in Tokyo for the first week in March and it would save a lot of hastle to get an official kit while i'm there. Can you give me some info so that i can get it ordered / delivered to our office there? Thanks.
I'm keen to eliminate the hesitation when cold. I hope it will make my lights brighter too, although i've just done the xenon conversion.
Sorry Greig for stealing your thread. Hope your mod worked for you.

Brian,
The official kit is big money, and not that flash really (almost hand done byt the looks of it). The fully prepped kits run in the 25,000 yen range!!
The ones on the site above run around 3000yen and less than an hours work if you can use a crimper and wire cutters

Thanks AJ,
I can use a crimp & pliers etc. so the lower cost type would still be fine. Our office in Tokyo is in Shintomi, Chuo-Ku so if you know anywhere "local" i can have a look at everything scooby then i'll take an hour or so off work.
I'll get the earthing mod and whatever else takes my fancy - maybe a new front wing and bumper to replace the ones roughed up by some guy that drove off out of my car park.
thanks,
bss

That's not far from some of the better places to visit - but you'll need a car...getting there by cab is OK, but return maybe an issue.
Try SuperAutobacs in Shinonome, they tend to have the up market stuff more than the other stores. While there, you could look at the Zero Sports stuff, and Prova stuff they have, pick up a tower bar or 2 Maybe a muffler?
Look the locals up on the legacyb4 group at yahoo...we have an STI or 2 over here Not to mention B4s etc

Just re wired mine - upgraded to 5 points and found that the engine is even smoother and responds better than the lightweight job I had on before.
And it even worked on the D rev B4 we played with! I am guessing it will work on a new Impreza too - we'll do one of them soon me thinks

Stu - it'll work on any of the models it seems, but some cars more than others. As I menioned earlier, even the newest model Leggy got "some" benefit, but the earlier models responded more.
IMHO go for it - at least you'll likely get better audio
