Prodrive Driving Lamps for MY01
#1
Has anyone had these fitted by a dealer or been quoted by a dealer for fitting.
I have just had a quote from my local dealer of £140 to fit these lamps, only £60ish less than the lamps themselves!!!!
Working on roughly £45/hour, does it really take over three hours for a dealer to fit these items?

Dealers charge WAY to much to fit stuff. Try the aftermarket places. Scoobysport for example charge £170 for Cibies plus £20 for fitting which makes a total of £190 plus VAT.
Shop around.

Yeah, I think that is what I'm going to do, I'm not going to pay a dealer that much for what is probably a simple job (if you know what your're doing).
DT, phoned ScoobySport this afternoon, apparently they're in the middle of switching from Cibie to Hella, due to supply problems, and are unlikely to have anything for a week or so.
Keep on looking...

Fitting will take approximately 1 hour once the dealer has done the first one but some dealers will still be estimating fitting time based on the PIAA kit.
Bob
We do indeed use the Hella Rallye 1000FF lamp unit, but it is modified to make installation simpler and fitted with a 100W bulb. The brackets are unique to this application, giving both a proper mounting as well as a good adjustment range and are nothing like the simple flat plates supplied to fit the older cars.
When you take this into consideration, I think that you will find that the price of £165.96 + vat is very reasonable.
The reason we don't supply them with covers is that they cannot be removed once fitted without disturbing the adjustment of the lamp.
Regards
Mike

Scoobysport have clear protectors for the Hella 1000 series lamps, that are fit and forget.
Our Hella HID driving lights use the same lens. The glass in these lenses is very fragile. We developed the clear protectors after I had 3 broken lenses in 7 months

Can someone confirm - these arent like the P1 fog lights - they are just driving lights like the Cibbies???? Seems a lot if they retail at £58 - are we saying a trendy bracket accounts for the £100 extra cost. My dealer quoted 2 hours labour!!!
Oh - and who stocks these Hella Rallye 1000FF lights - i cant find anything on the web for the uk!!!

Jza,
yes they are like the Cibes in size. You can see pics on the Hella site, but like you I'm a bit perplexed as to why they don't list stockists.

The £58 price is per lamp!
Every Subaru dealer has the kit available to them, all you have to do is ring them rather than chase around looking for somewhere that might be able to sell them to you, then creating your own bracket arrangement, working out how to wire them up on the car, blowing the fuses because all the polarities are different to what you expected........creating a new bracket because the first one wobbles......etc...etc...
Ring your dealer.............you know you want to

Fair comment mike - your probably right but.....
The dealer wants £90+vat to fit them!!!!! You said the brackets made them easy to fit but they still quote one hour more than you said they should take!!!!
Perhaps someone from Subaru can send out a letter to all dealers giving a default time to fit items - theres a hell of a lot of difference between dealers.

Wow £90+VAT, what a bargain.
The cheapest I found from a dealer was £130 (inc I hope).
Completely gone off the idea of the Prodrive solution, cost of fitting rather than the kit.
Would much rather buy the kit from the place that is going to fit the lights.
