Default air con, electric windows, rev counter and speedo stoped working

hi im new to scooby net and hopeing somebody may be able to help me. i own a impreza 2.0 turbo prodrive w reg. My electric windows, sunroof, air con, rev counter,speedo,temp gauge, light washers have stoped working and the twin cooling fans are on permently. thanks jon

I know this may sound obvious but did you check the fuses?

yes i checked fuses under bonnet & to right of steering wheel

hmmm....maybe it could be an earthing problem?

Note that if the 2 cooling fans are on that means teh car notices that teh a/c switch has been depressed.

Personally I would try to operate your electric windows directly, i.e. disconnect from the car harness and apply voltage direct to the motor. This way you would know that its still alive and there's some short with the wiring.

hi mate look at them again!! the ones inside the car,take them all out (one at a time) hold up to the sky...i had something like this before,it was a fuse that looked ok but was'nt..

had it checked by auto electrian and found that the reverse light was short circuiting caused by my sub not being fixed down properly and moving around the boot.(what a plonker)
