Okay -

The morrettes on my bugeye. Just had the drivers dip beam fail.

So, take out original, replace with new one (being careful not to touch bulb with fingers) - Nothing. Remove bulb (being careful not to touch with fingers), check plug with multimeter, all fine at about 11.89v or so....

Replace bulb. Nothing.

I've checked the bulbs and the filiments seem fine.

Any ideas because I'm having a sense of humour failure tonight and this is NOT helping matters!!

Might be a dodgy bulb..if you can compare the resistances of both bulbs,and try the N/S bulb in there too

hmm.. didn't think of trying that. cheers. I thought it was just me having the most sensitive bulbs known to mankind.

Oddly - all the bulbs seem *okay*. They looked okay, but knowing what these bulbs are like that tends not to mean much - but a check on the multimeter shows that the filiments are all intact if nothing else; including on the bulb that I assumed had blown.

Finally got it sorted this morning by making the last ditch effort of unbolting the morettes, giving the contacts a clean and a squirt of wonderspray, and bingo - all working fine.

Okay - I thought they were working.

Drivers side dip beam on my bugeye morettes has failed again:

bulb is not showing any resistance on the multimeter. So is okay as far as I can tell.

The circuit is live; as shown by 12v on the multimeter.

Now my thought was that the connector was faulty (hence the work/don't work). So made up a couple of extension wires that I knew fitted the plug and the bulb well. Plug these into the socket and still get a good 12v reading at the "bulb" end of my extension wires.

Connect these to the bulb - switch on - nothing. Checked the circuit with the multimeter and there was no current. Unplugged the bulb - and there is current. Plug bulb back in - no current in the circuit again.

I'm kind of at a loss what the cause is. If anyone out there has experience of morettes I would be *extremely* greatful for some guidence.

Went out this morning to crack on with it - and the damn lights came on without me even touching anything (other than the ignition and light stalk obviously!)

Sticky relay? (is there a seperate relay/circuit for each dip light!?)
