my mate has a 97 wrx...
however is heater has never blown hot since he got the car....
short of driving to essex and letting them sort it,,,
is there anything we can look at ourselfs, say a fuse,relay,whatever....
we have tried putting my switches into his dash and it makes no difference....
so if you have any ideas that would be cool...

Heater not blowing hot isn't usually electrical, it's usually to do with the engine not getting hot enough. This, in turn, is often down to the thermostat sticking OPEN. Replacement of thermostat with a new one, cures it.
Have a look at the water temperature gauge. Does THAT show hot? If so, it may NOT be the thermostat, it might be a blocked heater matrix.
Start hoping it's the former, as the latter is MUCH dearer and harder to sort

OK, does the fan go, when you select it?Originally Posted by scooby_me

And does it blow COLD air when you ask it to?
If both answers are yes, chances are your heater matrix is blocked.
You could also have broken/dislodged the plastic flap that directs air straight into the cabin, or over the heater matrix. (or broken, dislodged, or lost the end of, the cable cotrolling it)
Either way, it's a fekkin nightmare to solve, sorry

Yeh check the coolant isnt low, if its a bit down then the heater can not work well without it being so low the engine overheats.
