Unhappy

Well,

Being the **** I am, I fitted my new vision plus bulbs last night and then went about fitting the laser blue sidelights. Managed to get the nearside sidelight housing out no problem, replaced the bulb, all fitted back nice and easy.

Started on the offside and the sidelight housing just wouldn't come out, after a bit of pushing and pulling, I managed to pull the thing out, in the process snapping the bl00dy retainers. (They are like a ball joint on the lower right near the headlamp).

So the long and short of it is I need a new Offside Sidelight Housing for a MY00. Anyone any ideas where I can get one second hand? Scrapyards anyone? I dread to think how much the dealer will charge for a new one...I'll check. But I am sure there are some specialist breakers that have been mentioned.

Any help, much appreciated.

Exclamation

Just superglue the bit back on!!

Worry about it when you need to change the sidelight bulb again!

I know few owners who have done the above!!

Andy,

I thought of that, but the way it has snapped means I cannot get a close enough fit for the glue to bond properly.

I mean, the light fitting isn't going to fall out, but it has some movement at the bottom which I don't like the look of!

Odd isn't it? Always seems to be the off-side that seems to be a sod to get out. Just had the same experience.

Straaaange. I was replacing my sidelights yesterday for PIAA Superwhites. I too could get the NS off easily. But could not get the OS to come out at all. Still cannot get it out or back in. Going to the dealer now. They can finish it for me. My MY(& turbo was exactly the same. . I broke the clip on that and had to superglue it

This is a bit odd...perhaps it's a secret mechanism so that Subaru can fleece you for labour to change a light bulb....

Anyway, I am still stumped. I rang the dealer, he said I'll call you back in 5 mins with a price....never phoned back did he...useless *******...

Lightbulb

Just had my very kind dealer do mine for free in 5 mins incl. 2 new main light bulbs. The guy told me that the OS sidelight is very difficult to get off and many owners have trouble with it. I watched the guy take mine off. He says the secret is to get a large screwdriver behind the unit by the bottom retainer from inside the bonnet and lever it out. Needed some brute force but nothing like the effort I was going to put in. I WAS gonna break something!
