PIAA Mirror Orange & Detango
I Detango'd ny MY04 WRX Wagon about 3 weeks ago. The effect is terrific.
I've read all the info on here about doing it and it was very helpful. Thanks, guys!
I decided to use PIAA Mirror Orange bulbs. They are very bright and almost completely chrome when unlit. They look the business, even if they are viciously expensive!!!!!
I've used the same bulbs at the back to complete the effect but have come unstuck at the front side repeaters.
Do the MY04 ones come apart? Mine seem to be glued shut! I want to put Mirrror Orange Bulbs or Silvatec in there, too.
The Wagon is Mica Black and I'm going for a complete monchrome look. Thinking about black tinting the back windows but this might be over the top, any views?

Side repeaters on MY04 are sealed units
You could easily buy a crystal aftermarket set, replace the bulbs and use a scotch block connector to attach the wires to the original wiring.

Richie,
I am a complete "Car Tart" and wouldn't want to chop into the existing loom. It was bad enough pulling the headlights apart after having them in the oven!
I was hoping there was a crystal clear model with the correct connectors to go direct to the existing plug. Am I being too hopeful?

I'm the same and won't cut the wires with scotch blocks either but I then again the clear versions are fine, crystal with silvatec are very dim.
(Had them on my old classic)

Side repeaters off a bug eye are identical shape but have seperate bulbs. You can disconnect the wiring plug off the 04 sealed repeater, swop to a clear after market bug eye repeater and the same plug attaches to the back of the bulb holder. No wiring changes, no cutting, no nasty nasty scotchlocks.

Chelspeed,
Thanks for that. I'll go hunting this weekend.
Richie,
For info the Mirror Orange bulbs are as bright as a standard. I tried the Silvatec 21W and they were a bit dim!

If this is an 04 car then you're talking about the wedge type rear bulbs? I've got the Silvertec ones too and in bright sunlight they are really too dim to see. Who sells the PIAA Mirror Bright ones? And how ridiculously expensive are we talking?

I got over the hard to see silver bulbs by switching to LED's. 5 quid each, plus a 2 quid resistor for each and they look great. Much more visible and have that cool instant illumination that you only get with LED.
Not the best pic in the world as it was taken with a phone, but the indicator is clearly visible here in very obvious bright sunshine.....
