Exhaust and engine check light

Exhaust and engine check light
I got a Blitz Nur Spec R exhaust fitted today at a rather dodgy garage. I left the car with them when it was cold and in full working order, then when i collected it an hour later, it was up to temperature and my intercooler water spray had suddenly ran out, then after driving for 15 mins the engine check light has now come on.
Have they destroyed my car or is this a typical problem of fitting the said exhaust to a version 5 STI type R ?

There's no need to run a car on the road after fitting an exhaust.
You may need to run it to check for leaks at the flange meeting points, but thats a physical check and can't be done on the move.
Sounds like they've been out having fun at your expense.
Tip for the future - note your mileage and make sure the garage know you have noted it !

Read your ECU to see what the fault code is.
Under your dash taped to the steering column you'll find two black connectors and two green ones that aren't plugged together.
Plug black to black then turn on the ignition.
Your CEL light will start to flash.
