Default Faulty Spot lamps

Hi,

I am having problems with my spot lamps on my RB5. They keep blowing on a regular basis. I have been informed that it is the relay.

Has anyone else had problems with their spot lamps?

Mine used to blow all the time. Spent the 1st year of ownership having them replaced (at Subaru's cost) every few months.

Stopped using the PIAA bulbs and bought a pair of £10 Halfords ones. They've been on the car ever since (4+ years now) and still work fine.

I'd try some cheap bulbs first before changing the relay (although changing that for a decent Bosch one should be easy enough).

Probably is the relay creating a short, subaru in their wisdom fitted it in the worst place possible, all the rain water comes straight under the bonnet and all over it!

Also are you a member of the RB5 owners club go on the forum there are some previous posts about this problem, failing that Grade A breakers for a new relay.

Ditto!! I replaced mine with Halfords bulbs at a fiver a go,after the £20 Dealer ones kept blowing. If I remember correctly the Halfords ones are 130 watts and the original ones were 125 watts.Dont know if its the extra wattage that prevents them blowing or what.(no expert on electrics<).This was on an RB5.
