Legacy Owners - Help!
I think I've got to the problem of my ABS light coming on - seems to be a problem with my reverse lights. The bulbs/fuses are fine but the lights are not working and as soon as I select reverse the ABS light comes on? If I take one bulb out - the other one will work and the ABS light will not come on? I also notice that when the brake lights come on, the tail lights in the boot go off - is that normal? I recently had to get some holes from a previous spoiler welded up - could this have caused an earthing problem. It has only happened since I got this done so I'm thinking it has something to do with it.
Any ideas appreciated!
Alan.

Alan,
Check all your earths (where) possible.
I'm hoping you disconnected the battery before welding?

Cheers - I seem to have sorted it out
Is it normal for the brake lights on the back (not boot) to only come on when you have your driving lights on (and the tail lights in the boot to go off), but when you don't have any lights on the brake lights at the back and in the boot lid come on?
Hope that makes sense
Alan.

Erm, I think I understand, but just for clarity (confusion? ) on my B4 things go like: 1. Side lights (ie half bright on boot and rear quarters): on when fog lights selected and/or side lights selected
*also the nifty "park light" button on the steering wheel hub can turn them on*
2. Brake lights (ie full bright) on boot and rear quarters + high mount when pedal is pressed.

Thanks - it's hard to explain in writing!
I've been looking at the car at the weekend and have figured out the following:
Side lights off:
1) The brake lights work fine.
2) The reverse lights work fine.
Side lights on:
1) The brakelights only work on the rear quarters and the the side lights in the boot turn off.
2) The reverse light will work but when the brake pedal is pushed the reverse light will turn off and then on when the pedal is released.
I've also noticed that the licence plate lights are not working at all. I have changed all the bulbs (brake/side, reverse, licence) but it still remains the same. I have looked at the fuses and everything looks fine but I'm not sure as I don't know which fuse is for what as the manual is in Japanese
Does anyone have the fuse diagaram or can tell me what fuses are for what?
I had a look at all the wiring leading to each light and everthing 'looks' fine.
All this has only happened since I got some holes in my boot welded (battery was disconnected). I'm thinking the heat may have damaged a fuse or something?
Any more ideas?
Thanks.
