my headlight went and i have a new H4 bulb, but am not sure how you install it. Do you remove the back of the headlight cluster, or do you remove the lens and put it in from the front somehow?
i have a classic impreza (MY00).
thanks for any information

It goes in from the rear,(oo-err, missus):
You need to squeeze together the sides of the rubber boot you'll find behind the light unit, and pull it backwards.
Inside, the bulb is held in place by spring clips which are eased towrds the centre of the light until they come free at one end. They then hinge out of the way.
Lift the old bulb out, replace with new, and MAKE SURE IT IS SEATED PROPERLY!
This is the commonest cause of misaligned lights I've come across.
Put spring clips back in place, and check again that bulb is seated before replacing connector behind.
You need smallish hands, and patience. If the bulb is o/s, you can remove the air intake duct, one bolt and pull, for better access.
I probably don't have to tell you not to touch the glass on the new bulb, but it doesn't hurt to say it:
If you do, just wipe it with a cloth/tissue moistened with meths, or nail polish remover, and avoid rubbing too hard over the black painted end.
