Rear wiper won't turn off

Hi,
I have a problem with my wife's Mazda 323 hatch in that the rear wiper will not turn off when the switch is turned to the 'off' position and the wiper reaches it's resting position.
Any idea what to check? I've looked at the motor assembly and can't see any problem, Is there a relay or could it be the switch?
Any help would be appreciated.
