PIAA bulbs fragile?

I've been checking out the threads regarding PIAA headlight bulbs and the concensus seems to be that they are good but fragile i.e. don't last long and therefore Philips or Osram 50% brighter bulbs are much better value and long term bet.
If the above is actually the case, has any one tried the PIAA powersport bulbs which appear to be heavy duty versions for off raod vehicles and other extreme environments. If so how have they lasted and are they worth it.
I've got to do something about the standard lights, they are appauling and fall well short of the performance of my STi !!

Had PIAA bulbs twice and indeed after a year or so, you can be sure that they blow up. However the output of those bulbs is quite high, so that's normal. Philips or Osram might last longer, but are only slightly brighter than the OE bulbs.
I'm gonna go for Raybrig bulbs next time, even better than PIAA....
