Question

Ah! I've got this annoying electrical problem. When my waterspray system starts or stops (the pump), the Secs monitor restarts sometimes. I've also noticed my knocklink reads a full flash upto red (I know its the auto waterspray as I've stopped it working when on boost and knocklink works normally). Other times, the knocklink doesn't flash at all (and the same for the secs)

The waterspray has a dawes boost switch and manual switch, but the Secs isn't connected to the spray system in any way - it's direct to the ECU pin connection for power, etc.

Any ideas?

Hi m8,

I initially connected my secs up to a waterspray pump..... every time it hit the preset boost level, it reset the secs.

Ended up going back to the manual switch.

Thumbs up

It's strange bloke. I've changed the location of the earth wire for the Knock link and now the secs monitor doesn't switch off at all - although the knock link is still getting a flash of LEDS when the auto-waterspray comes on or off. I'm going to re-wire the 'ignition' on power supply for the knock link away from the water spray wiring (via relays) and see if that works. I'm happy for now that the secs doesn't keep restarting - didn't want it to go wrong as I bought it 2nd hand. Doesn't make sense though being that the Secs gets power, earth and data direct from ECU - nothing to do with waterspray connections...mad
