i got the lb sidelight's and the main lights for my r19 16v phase 2, and they look white still, and my mate got them for his 520i bmw, and they look proper blue, but his lights has the magnifine thing or whatever it is in them,

anyone else got them ?

I must say I've noticed that cars with "normal" lights and these blue bulbs fitted tend to give a whole array of colours as they approach and pass you, from blue>>greenish>>orange>>>and onto pink!!!!
I wonder if it's because they aren't projector lights?

This is just an observation.

I can't comment on how well these bulbs perform on your r19, but i tried a set of these in my scoob, and all they did was make the already poor lights seem worse.

osram bulbs made a seemingly noticeable difference though

I put a set of the Philips cool blue bulbs into my scoob over the weekend and I think there is a marked improvement. I got them from powerbulbs.com and you get the side lights free when you buy the headlamps.

however, i seem to be the only person who fails to see the blue in them!

you wont see the blue whilst you are driving, only other people will see the blue

On genuine HID's the Blue light is waste light

I meant when looking at the car from the outside, I wanted to know what they looked like but I couldn't tell very much. The only time I could see a blue tint was when i focused away from the car - so it seems I've got magic-eye headlamps!

the light is much whiter and great deal better than before though.

Team, a little explanation, not that I'm scientist... just a techie!
The blue bulbs simply colured, that is you are getting a clouring effect but this is to the detriment of light output, i.e not great! The HID lamps are gas discharge and such they emit a pure light, this light is at a higher temperature in terms of kelvin than a standard bulb, in other words the higher the temperature the greater the light. As most HID lamps are beamed useing a lens then you also get a prism effect i.e. colures of the rainbow... this is also the case with BM & Audi lights they also used to have lenses but with normal bulbs. If you want the blue-ish effect & an increase in light then philips have just introduced some new bulbs that have 4000kelvin check out powerbulbs.com these will do the buisiness! I've seen these and they are very bright compared to normal halogens.
