The car's in for its MOT at the mo. It's failing on lighting. 1 light is aiming too high and the other's beam pattern is not correct.

I'm happy I can adjust the lights myself, however, where can I get my hands on the required standard(s)?

The MOT station doesn't have them as they use an automated tool - presumably calibrated to the required standard.

The government want £33 for the whole MOT testing book! They don't publish the details on the web either.

Anyone got any ideas? The car is basically totally roadworthy and failing purely on some technicality that no-one can accurately explain to me and back up with the regulation(s).

Question

The one with the suspect beam pattern, is it a standard light unit? Not been swopped for a European one, (Left hand drive?)
If not, check the SEATING of the bulb. It may be badly seated in the reflector, and this spoils the beam pattern. Also, try another bulb, some cheapies, and some not-so-cheap ones are WAY out!

Cheers guys. The site was useful and I'll make sure and try a different bulb... I've got spares in the car anyway.
