HHHHEEELLLPPP! I cannot seem to figure this one out - I have a MY97 UK turbo and the fuse has blown in the engine bay for the LHS H/Lamp (Passenger) BUT the light is on very dimly (about 8-9 Watts instead of 55Watts) and the RHS H/Lamp (drivers) is on between dipped and full beam.

Possible short somewhere between the lights or something else?

I am totally headf****d with this at the moment - please assist

Russell

Could it be caused by a duff relay?

Do you use the higher wattage bulbs? Have heard of them melting the wiring

Question

Sounds as if the return current from the light that IS working is finding an earth path through the one with a blown fuse. This always gives weird effects. Try removing the bulb to the one that has a blown fuse. See if it still has the other one as before, or does it come on as normal.
If it's gone back to normal, try a different bulb in place of the one that blew a fuse first, and if this doesn't solve it, have an auto electrician look at the wiring, unless, of course, you can SEE melted/other problem wires behind it.

Don't UK cars have dim/dip instead of sidelights?

You've replaced the fuse, I take it?
