Question

After removing all the four doors cards to have a look to see why my central locking was not working i notice that the drivers side rear, passenger front & rear had a 2 pin electric connection to the lock actuator were as the main drivers doors had a simular two pin connector in the locking actuator but the main loom wire that connects into that had a four pin connector. Had someone removed something or possibly has the main loom been modified in some way.

I suspect that wot you've got is correct, normally, the alarm will send a sugnal to the drivers door to lock, this then sends a similar signal to the rest of the car.

Ticky,

What model/ year scooby do you have?? A big problem for central locking not working on LOADS of Classic Impreza's is due to the 'keyless cont Unit' being contamiated with water and practically frying it's board. It's small black box approximatly the size of a cigarette packet which is located underneath the dash on the passenger side.
You should be able to pull the board out and see if its coroded.
Hope this helps.
Chris.

My car is a 95 wrx. Thanks for the tip, I'll have a look at the control unit under the dash. What about the connector in the main drivers door. The main loom has a 4 pin connector & the door actuator has a 2 pin connector so they wont fit, hence central locking not working, so im wondering should the main loom have a 2 pin connection or was there something else in between.

Mine is a 95 wrx too and it has 2 pins on the plug which connects straight to the lock mechanism.

Question; Is the car an import or UK model??
Most problems traced back to CDL in footwell OR if you have decent alarm fitted the motor in the drivers side door.
World manual shows an 8 pin plug for 95-98 models;it gets fun when you have a 10 pin on import with no part numbers..oh and it has a 4 pin connector and auxilliary switch in drivers side door.
Does your central locking work on inside switches both for lock and un-lock????

Thanks for the reply my car is a import 95wrx ra. Whilst fiddling under the dash footwell sorting my turbo timer wires i disconnected a main wire which shut all the main power supply( engine stopped. Anyway before this i knew that my c/locking was not working, but i noticed that the passenger front & rear doors locked when i reconnected this main wire. My main cofusion was in the front drivers side door this 4 pin wire. Do the jap models have this & uk dont

Ticky, I spoke to a friend who's a Subaru electrian (the guy that fixed my central locking) and he said that if the Central locking module (Keyless Cont Unit) under the passenger side of the dash is ok, central locking should work from passenger door too even if drivers door isn't connected. Hope you get it sorted case i know how frustrating it is having central locking but not being able to use it!

The overwhelming opinion is that it probably is the CDL inside the passenger footwell.I presume that you can still lock all the doors from inside and the drivers door with the key.
Can you hear all the solenoids trying to work but lacking enough electrical power???
Does the car come equiped with an alarm and a fob switch that locks/unlocks the drivers door????

The alarm has been removed to be replaced with a clifford. The c/locking does not work from the inside.
Everyone seems to point out its the cdl at fault, proberly so but I still have the issue about the main drivers door.
I pressume the lock actuator is a small elec black box attached to each door lock mechanism.
What does the drivers side door lock actuator look like?
Someone else said that the main drivers door would have a small motor in place is that right. Please note my driver side door does not have this small motor or even the small black box (actuator)
