Question

I think white LEDs may be the answer to brighter sidelight. Actually thats a complete guess - so can anyone verify?

Lightbulb

It will certainly make them whiter.
Could this be what you are looking for?

Yes - thats what I want! Will make a change from the yellow!

Gasoline Alley (C.A.R.) stores said they will be getting some in in the new year - so will get a pair then. Hopefully make the car look unlike a nissan bluebird at night!

Be aware that LEDs are significantly more directional than normal bulbs: As your reflector will be rendered almost useless, you may end up with a big white spot on the front of your side-light lenses!!

LED's run cold. They don't use an incandescent filament like a bulb, they are a light emitting diode.

If you want to throw your money away , PIAA do them www.piaa.co.uk

I just bought some brigher sidelights - 16W instead of the usual 5W from Halfords (code is 955) - they are much brighter than the standards, and a step in the right direction, but still look fairly yellow. I guess I'll have to see at night how much the difference is. They cost about £2.79 each.

Also, the 21W versions had a bigger base and I doubt the head would have gotten through the lens housing.
