Question

MY02 WRX saloon. There is a white electrical socket in the boot under the middle of the rear window. It hangs off the loom that feeds the boot light, but never seems to be live. Perhaps it's brake light which I haven't tested yet.

Anyone any idea how it works, and what it might be intended for?

It's the socket for the high-level brake light for cars without rear spoiler.
