MY01 lights (or "dims")...
#1
God the lights are rubbish!
I thought they were bad when I was driving it, but when my wife was driving it following me in the Elise last night it was clear that the Scoob's lights were the dimmest on the road. I could pick it out in the rear view mirror easily because of this.
What's the easiest solution. I'm not interested in morettes or any wrc style lights because I find them hideous compared to the standard ones.
Can I just get better bulbs?

You can get better bulbs, and there is a vast choice. Everyone has their favourites. Personally, if I am flush I will always get PIAA Platinum Super Whites. If not try Osram +50%.

I have put the morettes on my MY01 and personally I think they are less bright than the original bug ones.
I thought the original ones illuminated the road excellently but they looked pants.
Think I may have to try some new bulbs for the morettes unless any one else has any thoughts.

Boba, I've noticed the standard lights seem to provide 2 very distinct spots of light, but very poor for the overall spread of light.
When it was following me they did appear to be bright if I was at one particular angle in relation to it, but then dull if either of us moved.
I'm worried that it is the reflector design rather than the bulb intensity.

BT52B,
Sorry bud but I totally disagree. The MY01 dipped beam (on my car) is many times better than my MY00, and significantly better than my wifes Saab. This is in bog standard form. The main beam is also excellent IMHO.
Perhaps you need to visit the optician mate?
Cheers,
Rich

Change the bulbs mate. I have tried various different bulbs on my RB5 and have stuck with PIAA. They produce a 'whiter' light which do 'just as they say on the tin'
One tip, make sure you get e-marked bulds (roadlegal) just in case of an accident at night and the driver say's they were dazzled!

Tony,
Do you know if the PIAA Platinum super whites are OK in plastic lights (i.e. the MY01)?
On the Demon Tweeks web site (http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/)it does not state specifically that they are, however, on one of the other bulbs (Plasma FX) it specifically states that they are OK for lights with plastic lenses.
Also - does anyone know where to get these bulbs from as DT are generally v expensive!
Cheers,
Darren.

Richie. I had heard that the previous Scoob was even worse, but believe me, the dipped lights on an Elise or a especially a 306Xsi are FAR superior.
And on main beam the spread of light seems very uneven to me I see dark and light patches.
Also thinking abou changing the front fogs to driving lights like the Elise has. It's like turning on the sun!

I've got an old shape MY00 and it's about time I changed the bulbs as I can't face another winter being outshone by the other half's Ka!

so, I have had a look at the power bulbs website, all looks well and good.
Can anyone tell me what the bulbs are in a set of Morettes on the MY01?
then, maybe i can sort out my dimly lit lights!

I didn't receive a specific code to enter, I think you just type in "10% discount" as shown on the website.
Let me know if it doesn't work and I'll have another look
