I've just changed the drivers seat in our Forester and the replacement has a side impact airbag. Does anyone know about the steering wheel bag deployment in a 1997 vehicle and could the seat bag be wired into that circuit. The seat bag has two low voltage yellow wires for connection.

Thanks Obi

very dodgy groung this, I would say that if the original didn't have an airbag, leave the one in the new seat disabled, as you could end up injuring yourself, I've got a feeling that the systems used would use a different actuator for the side bag, than the steering wheel one, and god knows what the insurance brigade would say if it went off wrongly and caused an injury which you (or someone else) then tried to put in a claim for personal injury.
It's up to you, but leave it be.
Ron.
