Cooling Fan Cut out
#1
On a Golf I once had the electric cooling fan would come on ad stay on for as long as the water temp required it wether the car was loked alarmed or whatever however on the MY93 WRX I have recently perchased after a bit of a run I get out and the fan is going as it should be but when I stop the car and lock it up (aftermarket Sigma M30 fitted and yes I have let it idle for the sake of the turbo) the fan cuts out should this be the case? or is perhaps the alarm wired incorrectly any sugestions on how to cure this would be appreciated

Hi m8
I asked the same question about a month ago. Seems that when you switch off the scoob it all goes off.
At least it stops you getting a flat battery when you leave your lights on. Best thing you can do is what you already said - let it idle.

Think about it laterally for a moment.
the engine's not running therefore the waterpump wont be running.
The engine is not going to get any hotter while it's turned off.
so what the hell is the point in having the fan running, all it's going to do is cool the water in the radiator.
you may say that the water will be cooler when you start up again after a short stop. has it ever overheated...no. when you start up again the fan cuts in (if it still hasn't cooled off by it's self)
off you trundle......

Not arguing with you Fuzz as I know F.all about engines. But why do a lot of manufactures have it so that the fan cuts in with the engine off. Seems a bit strange??
