Default Prodrive wrc headlights problem

Had a dim drivers side headlight on my uk300.
Removed bulb & noticed blackening round the live spade connecter to rear of bulb.
Main fuse & bulb is fine so I'm thinking this must be the problem, unfortunately I build house's not car's so could anyone point me in the direction of what may have caused this & where I can get replacement wiring for these particular units.
They're bad enough without having only one working.
Need it fixed before I have a run in with Mr plod, or a tree.

It sounds like there hasn't been a very good contact to the back of the bulb. You can make up the wiring to plug and play easy enough but I would check you're connections first.

I'll try clean them up & see if it fixes it.
If not,
Do I just splice a new connection on to the wire & tape it up?
Also what are decent bulb upgrades for these lights?
Got candles in the wind at the moment.
