MID-LIFE CRISIS!!!! THANKS IN ADVANCE
Hello I am new to the forum but I am writing on behalf of my father in law. he is 52 and has always wanted a subaru and last week he fulfilled his dream and bought one. He has his mind set on giving it a full respray and sticker kit. That is fair enough so i took it for a spin down the road. i got to the end of his lane and decided i would give it some welly to see what it could do. To my total horror i thought the clutch was stuck it was makin all the right noses but the thing wouldn pull your socks off. so when i got back to the house he then revealed it was a 1.6. I know he isnt flush and paid 300 quid for the motor and it is really tight jus he will look a real maggot in a wrc rep. wit a shetland pony under the bonnet. Jus want to know how this thing can be made quicker he has the KandN. No point it lookin the part and a 1.2 corsa makin a fool of him. P.S THE CAR IS 1994 1.6. we tried a 2ltr engine but didn match the brain. Can the car be made quicker

How much quicker_
The olde....good service, including oil, fuel filter, and plugs will help the engine get close to its original 100bhp
From there, you will have to lighten the car to make it go faster. Lose the spare wheel, the sound deadening in the boot, the back seat....

Doubt modifying the engine in any way would be worth it mate, i drive a 1.6 (although its an Alfa) i've stuck a nice exhaust on it and a K&N and thats as far as it goes but least it sounds a bit more throaty! 1.6 N/A tuning is a waste of money.

dont bother.. im not being blunt just saving you money. iv been chasing bhp in a 2ltr sport for over 2 years and still havent reached the magic 200(though getting close)...
either sell it or just keep it and be happy with what you have..its still a subaru. ok its not a turbo with big bhp but a lot of the cars running big gee gees spend more time sitting geting talked about than being driven..
get a filter kit and a borla down pipe and at least it will sound the part
fabs
