Heading down to accompany the ride out from Carrick today...Quay Vipers charity run, unfortunately ended prematurely due to a biker fatality, and 2 injured police riders
Plus at least one other bike related fatality today, not a good weekend for the bikers
Thoughts are with the families of those concerned RIP

Thats terrible They looked really well riding down the road, their Hi-Vis' jackets looked extra clean
Is there a used signal for car drivers to use with bikers to acknowledge that you know they are behind or to the side of your car? I generally give them a thumbs up if they are very close to my car just so they know i'm looking out for them but this could be sending mixed signals

BBC NEWS | Northern Ireland | Man killed in police bike crash
Bad day RIP
Theres no signal and one would cause more confusion. You just know if someone sees you from their mirror usage and road positioning. If you want to help out and be friendly position your car slightly left (but not onto verge kicking stones and crap up if you're "too" nice ) to aid a safer overtake. If you're a decent rider of any kind you don't need to be on the rear quarter of the car(s) in question to overtake or have any assistance really. I would always position myself in the view of the right hand wing mirror; gives me 2 options within my lane and the best view unless its bendy and u're switching to get the best vanishing point view.
