I went to buy an evo 8 300 before I considered the scooby, went to Donnellys in mallusk and it was the sales man who talked me out of it, It was going to be an everyday car and the salesman said dont bother after a few months you will hate driving it. Took it for a wee skeet up the road and I must say it was a hard ride but I liked it the wife never so we went to Subaru.
If i was going to change I would go for the Evo 6 in white r that purplely colour.

Always thought the Evo V or VI were the nicest looking but they just didn't tick all the boxes or me though.
Why spend £12,000 on a 99 Evo 6 TME when you can have a 2003 STI for the same money

exactly ^^^^ even though i really like evo 9 FQ's i really dont think i could sway from a scoob either....just something about subaru's that always bring me to them over an evo
plus they sound and look nicer, easier to live with day to day but can still do the same job as an evo if needs be.

i went and looked at an evo 4/5 ( can t actually remember ) just to compare it to a scooby ( the guy asked my age and needless to say i didn t drive an evo that day ) but the sound from a scooby is so much better plus the price different is really big selling point.
plus u ve got more choice with scoobys to get the one the want

i originally set out to buy an evo 6 or 5.
i had a maximum budget of £9k inc travel if needed, possibly 9.5k
i looked at about 5 or 6 locally, all in the 8-9.5k price range and they were dogs. drove like dogs, interior was destroyed, and the overall appearance was tatty.
now for me going from my integra which, if i do say so myself was 110% immaculate 100% of the time inside and out I couldnt justify that sort of money for that condition of car.
now a TME is the dogs *****, and tbh most are going to be mint as they are totally specialist, and being limited demands the higher tag, so the overall quality of the ones being sold should be better.
in the end I went for the RB5, as its limited and not as common, it was in the same price range, with a few toys on it, and the insurance was a third of the price... £400 ish compared to £1400 for any evo. and again IMO you get a lot more subaru for your money than you do with the evo.
having most of my mates being evo owners at one time or another, all of them said the evo is a nightmare to drive round town, and tbh they didnt find them that fast (one 6 in particular tho instantly swayed my opinion of that... it would **** all over most). Not one of them recommended buying one.
I probably will have one at some stage, but they are soo soooo hard to find one thats not like a tarted up bag of pish.

As i said i love my impeza's had 3 in the last 18 months!
but that doesn't stop me liking other brands, previously had a wee 99 v-tec civic
and a 330 bmw coupe witch were both great.
I would say that i will near future i will step up to--
Red tommi mak
then maybe a gtr skyline
I guess it's each to there own,you pays your money and you takes your choice

my problem sadly is i tend to get attached to cars.
1986 Mk2 Golf
1992 crx,
1998 Integra R,
1986 MK1 CRX (integra slayer i might add)
1999 Impreza
my bloody problem is, i buy specialist cars.. translate that as "cars I love that are hard to sell on :P"
a mate of mine recently bought an r34 gtr... i asked whats it like on fuel.. he said.. round town 18-20.. send it on.. 8 mpg.. to which i near choked.
but a mint evo is definately something i`ll have one day... i`m even back on speaking terms with the scoob

true.. the other thing i noticed which concerned me was.
a lot of the evos for sale all had "new clutch, new gearbox, new Yaw control"
and owners were forever doing brakes, clutchs and gearboxes.. but then i kept also getting the chocolate pistons comment for the scoobys.. eacht o there own as said.
every car has its weakness, but then you also wonder are all the ones with problems the ones being driven by *****?

my brother has a white evo 7 with white compomotive alloys and i have to admit it looks really well, but i would still prefer the drive of my scoob, i think it is a more 'relaxed' car to drive, the evo steering is so sensitive. plus the noise of the scoob is ten times better, thats what made me buy the scoob in the first place.

a good mate of mine just bought a lovely evo 6 a few weeks back and its the nicest ive seen as i was never that fussed on any evo bar the 9's....its got a bit of work done ans is pushing somewhere around the 370bhp mark it really really goes, but its pretty hardcore and he admits thats himself, and it tends to want to be driven hard all the time...even gave him a sore head driving it the other day lol, plus it has uprated clutch and brakes etc so is harder to drive round town
if i had a choice between a standard 03 sti or an evo 6 gsr id def go for the subaru
and @big kev id say if you pitted an 03 sti against an evo 7 gsr both cars at 276bhp id say the scoob would be very slighlty quicker in a straight line as they are slightly lighter
classics are a different story lol as they are near 200kgs lighter than an evo 7 :-)

Like for like with the the same bhp, Easily the scooby, the fact that the boxer engine sits low in the chasis and that there is no transfer box i.e the gearbox lines up with the rest of the transmission, scooby can get the power to road far faster than an EVO.

Hmmmm i was originally gonna go for a white evo 5 but decided on the RB5 as i got a good deal with it and also the sound of the scoob beats anything!!
My mate had an evo 6 with ralliart goodies and was 330bhp, it went well but was unreal to fuel....I also have a mate with an evo 8 FQ300, and although it seems quite quick, it feels to me like driving a 'tarted-up toyota avensis' ....very sensitive steering and felt very light handling!!
I think i will keep the RB5 and tune it up to get some good power, and then im afraid it will have to be a lairy skyline R33 GT-R V-Spec with bronze rota rims....oooohhhh i love them things!!

have to agree with rb5 boyo i have heard that the evo s can feel like their on their tip toes abit down a back road, the scooby feeling better and more planted,
but im sure u would get used to the handling if u owned one,but
the thing i think about is one insurance, they are both 4 wheel drive two litre turbo s and very good at wot they do.
so how can u consider spending more than u have too, for pretty much the same job
doesn t make sense to me at all.

Never fancied an Evo, the Scoobs noise is 50% of the deal for me, plus I hate cars with too much electronic controls, all i want is a powerful engine, a gear stick and a good seat, anything else is just there to break...I am sick to death of replacing bloody sensors on my S MAX, there are even sensors on sensors and each one is 100 quid..
