impreza 1.6 turbo
#3
I seen a silver 2.0 sport in 'Jap Performance' magazine with all the bits to make it STI spec, and its now running at over 300bhp ....think the write up on it said it wasnt worth it as it costs so much to do the conversion....
A company called Scooby Clinic in England say it is roughly £3000 plus VAT in labour alone to do the conversion, and on top of that u have to buy the donar engine, gearbox, shafts, diff, loom etc etc and any other bits needed to complete the job....so they dont recommend it as you could be talking £6000-£8000 possibly and if u have £7000 laying about ud be better just going and buying a classic STI to start with

On the cheap... Second hand turbo, modded manifold, fifth injector and controller or bigger injectors and remap if it's possible on the 1.6.
Then you need some custom plumbing for the turbo air, oil etc and modded exhaust to fit. All do-able but even then it's probably going to set you back a bit.

Just buy a wrx not too expensive across the water turbo conversion
fit a turbo
clutch
gearbox
brakes
driveshafts
diffs
by that stage you could have afforded a 2 ltr turbo

I went to ECC to enquire about the greddy bolt on 4 the EP3 they told me that u do not need any other engine mods 2 handle 80-100hp from the turbo kit. But then I wouldnt use them 2 do any work as when I went 2 them about wat I wanted done 2 my scoob they said "wat u really want is our system, our fuel pump, our this & our that"
Its my car I know wat I want.

Don't do it - You can bolt one on for an extra 50 HP for less than a grand, but if you want the rest of the car to keep up budget 5-6k. 6k on a 1.6 will get you a good selection of classics
