Default Suspension & wheels... bit of a problem

I changed the wheels on my car...originally they were 16inch but i put 17inch on...

now when i have a passenger in the back, when i go around corners/hit bumps in the roads...theres a rubbin noise from back wheels...when iv looked at it, where the shock and the springs are, theres a black plastic bit underneath that they sit on...it seems to be rubbin against the tyres at the bumps/corners...

sorry its not the best of description but il try n geta pic and post it up wich might make it more clear...

what could i do to solve this?? would stiffening the suspension solve it??

Cheers
colin

Well when i was ordering them, i asked the guy quite a few times "now will they definitly be the right offset" an he said yeah, they'll go straight on and cause no problems at all...

if they are the wrong offset...can anything be done??

I'll take a pic of what i'm talkin about an fire it up later on

when i had new 18 inch rims and tein coilover suspension i had a slight rubbing coming from the rear, but it turned out to be a bracket for the rear bumper which was slightly bent and it was rubbing on that, so we bent it straight again and it has been fine ever since and that is with 18 inch rims, could try that as next port of call.

Default wheels

double check with the guys you got the wheels of as the sports and your motor run pretty high offset figures. not sure what the turbos run but its poss to run the sports up to 55 and as low as i think 46min on the offsets.

fabio

if your stuck try imprezasport.net. theres plenty of helpfull bods on there and its a site for non turbo cars. its actually were i got in touch for my car.

the rims could be the rite off set but the tyres they put on could be 2 big.

dont no were you could find out the offset that fit the car, but if you do you could check the offset on the back off the alloy to see if the match up. or els they could do with a spacer kit.

theres a guy in kerrs tyres in antrim called gary he specialise in alloy wheels he would no if its the wheels would narrow it down a bit

yeah fabio, i may have to give them a buzz...

im not too sure if a spacer kit wud solve the problem, as it sits over the wheel by roughly an inch....

the spacer kit would solve the problem if it was big enough..but if the wheels and tyres are correct you shouldnt have a problem that needs solved

id get your wheels checked to make sure.if needs be we can put one onto the back of my car this week and see if theres any rubbing problems.that way youl know if its the wheels or the car if it dont do it on mine.

failing that...just give me your wheels ..theyd look sooooooooooooo much better on mine.

Well i posted it up on imprezasport.net an they all seem to think its nothing 2 do with the suspension (unless something is seriously wrng), they've all suggested it cud be the wheel arch...so it may need cut/rolled to allow more space but its hard to figure if it is that...PAIN IN THE ***!!

If i can't figure out what the problem is fabio, wud you mind lettn me try a wheel on urs??

god loves a trier ehh fabio, when ya say give u them, ill give u them at a good price haha

Stevie, cheers for that number mate!

cant see TSL make'n that mistake but it could happen i guess, colin annoy me anytime as its not a prob - all we do is play with our cars, phone TSL and see what they say, if that fails let us no and we'll take a duke.

Cheers geoffo! Fabio if i havnt got it sorted by then, that would be great! would appreciate it...

Andy, TSL advised me to get 215/40/17 - they told me they were the perfect tyres for my car... but someone else on here is telln me that 205' would solve it??

Had a look at that site...my rims are the prodrive replicas in 17'' so im assuming i should look at the same part of that web page... says on there that the ET should be 50....with which TSL sent me 45...

Now im in a dilemma...is it the tyre size of wrong offset... lol

Cheers for the help guys
