Default Few pics of my new motor - 1999 UK turbo

Got it in england a few weeks ago and brought it back to Belfast...have done a couple of subtle mods since

Wheels resprayed silver, crystal side lights and indicators etc, also had a magnex system and centre decat on it,drilled and grooved discs and an induction kit which i binned and got a standard airbox with green panel filter instead, then just a good clean

The cars a good straight one and i searched for ages to get the right one, 66k on it and 13 services from subaru! so always a bonus....really pleased with it

When i got it

After a few mods

Cheers
Barry

Looks great Thats my favourite colour for a classic.

Did you spray the wheels yourself? I'm considering doing mine either silver or graphite but I'm not sure where to start.

a fella outside lisburn did the rims matey, really good job and easy to pay i can get his number if u want, my rims only needed rubbing down though and painting there was no kerbage or anything on them

just need a set of jdm rear clusters now but dunno where to look!
then spend a bit of time on the engine whenever funds permit, hoping for around 280bhp

Cheers for the offer, but like an idiot I scuffed my inside rear wheel on a kerb in bloomfields car park a couple of days after I got it so it might need a bit more work.

280bhp is a nice figure - thats what I'm aiming for myself. Apparently mine's putting out just over 250bhp at the minute, so I reckon an ecutek remap should see that.

As for the lights, I haven't a clue where you'd get those - I'm sure someone will be along to help soon enough.

What car did you have before?

ive had mostly hot hatches before, 106 gti vti civic etc, last car was a 2002 clio 172, great fun we motor but not a patch on the scoob and i always wanted one

what mods have u got pheunos? mine is fairly standard at the min, apart from magnex with centre decat and green panel filter.....plans for the future are decatted downpipe, bigger TMIC, walbro 255l fuel pump and either an ecutek remap or apexi power fc(prob go for the apexi as it costs around the same as an ecutek remap) and i can always remap it again if i decide to go for a bigger turbo

My mods aren't too serious; full 3" decat system, Walbro 255 fueld pump, Sard fuel regulator, Green panel filter and a couple of cosmetic things like wheels, mud flaps and body colour sills. Still gives a surprising perrformance increase but I think it's crying out for a remap.

some really crackin cars you have there fellas.....dmc 1980 i see u have pretty impressive spec lined up for the car!what sort of power are you aiming for?
Pheunos im goin pretty much along the same lines as yourself with my car. just wondering what the best way to go about it is. Do i get all the bits i want then just leave it all in at once to be done and remapped etc

who do you's recommend for tuning your subaru's or carrying out any work.

no idea burt, i want it to be reliable so it wont be pushed to its limits.

as for what way to do things, i would recommend buying everything then getting it all fitted in one swoop, always more fun.

I wouldnt go past OMA for work on subarus, but then again, it depends on your location.

Whereabouts is OMA? Do they have a website?

Do they do servicing too? Mine's coming up for a big one shortly.

Thats a brilliant looking scooby you have yourself there.. 280bhp is no probs, had my remapped recently, she's just a fraction under that.. i'm going to changing the turbo, uprating the fuel pump and fitting a 3 port boost solenoid and hey ho, should break over the 300..
Welcome by the way..

cheers everyone! what sort of power can the standard turbo and intercoller handle, i beleive the tdo4 is only good for about 280bhp but what about the intercooler as i was gonna go for a bigger one but not much point if the standard one will cope for what im after

naughtyhunnybunny what have you done to get near the 280 mark?

im just saving at the min for a walbro fuel pump and a decatted downpipe, then either a remap or an apexi fc unit, anyone know how much an ecutek remap is?

Not much more than you i don't reckon, although i have like i said had the remap as well and got to 279bhp.

I've got 3" decat all the way through, ported headers, panel filter and thats on the TD04 turbo.. If i had looked into it better i would have changed the turbo before going for a remap at all.. The chap that mapped it suggested the Td05, uprate fuel pump and the solinoid and that will safely take her to just over 300...
Although not too sure whether to go for a VF range turbo ??

I paid £600 for the remap..

600, i didnt realise it was that expensive for an ecutek :-( i might just save for an apexi then i seen them on ebay for 435 delivered, i suppose its the hours of mapping and setting it up that costs though

how does the VF compare to a td05? also are u keeping the standard intercooler? sorry for all the q's just gotta get my head around the scooby tuning thing only new to them

To be honest i'm quite new to all this too.. Although i'm a girlie i do like to take a big interest in my car..
The £600 was including the rolling road run so i didn't think that was too bad, but with the 1st remap you actually paying for the licence as well. Next time around it will only be a £100 i think or there abouts.

Apparently unless i intend to push the engine and go up to around 340bhp i don't need to go down the route of changing the intercooler to a front mount or even changing the top mount to n STi one either, after looking at a few of the threads on here its not that simple?

Although anyone else opinion would be greatly appreciated..

I'm not too sure about the turbo differences although i have read that the TD05 hybrid is a stronger turbo with greater gains if i do decide to go further at a later date so it does have its advantages..
