Went to thr network Q Rally on Friday 23.11.01. Burns, Makkinen and McRea were really fast (before they went out). Unbelievable following of enthauastic spectarors. Managed to blag our way into a few stages - had no distance to walk. Subaru Mecca! - loads of road-going scoobys.

Had a slight accident in hire car! Young guy in his mums fiesta rearranged the front of our Primera! no one hurt.

Rally drivers are very poor over here compared to the WRC drivers! Wot about a leg of the WRC in Ireland!

Did anyone else go from NI. We flew to Bristol - really handy!

Red face

we went to punchestown earlier this year. freddy and richard were faster by miles than irelands best and they were only messing around! different quality of driving completely.

the rallies over here wont be the same again once youve been spolied by wrc drivers

The speeds or quality of driving may not be the same but then again these guys are professionals and the top drivers in the world . I was at the Cardiff super special last year and the 2 drivers who got the loudest cheer were Gyndaff Evans and Niall Mc Shea . Despite being in a super 1600 car , Niall was able to beat the group A car in the other lane by sheer driving skill . He was always good to watch on the local rallies like the bushwhacker . We have a lot of good talent here but sadly money talks and you won't get far in rallying without it unless you're very lucky .
A big advantage of rallies here is the accessibilty . You don't have to pay or walk 5 miles to get to a stage . The marshalls are generally more easy going and providing you have sense will not move you . Except one we came across on the summit . But then he was english and only over for the day .
