I need to share my dialup network connection with my girlfriends pc. She's paying 1/2 the cost of our ADSL install and rental , but she's a bit p***ed that she can't use it on her machine.

We are both running OEM versions of Windoez 98, the network is on a 3com hub with the same network cards.

I have seen W2000 and in there is an option to share DUN connection, I can't find anything to share the connection in Win98.

Help please, and thanks in advance.

David & Chelsie

Don't think you can do it under windows 98 without a program such as wingate. I think windows 98 SE and windows ME have that facility.

Thanks Dark Muppet and Lee (Serious help from a Muppet - amazing )

I've been doing some searching and I need an OS with ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). I had no idea there was a second edition of Win98 that comes with ICS, but guess what, you can download the 2nd edition, short of the ICS stuff, bummer or what

Does Windows ME come with that?

Thanks, David & Chelsie

There's another one called Avirt Soho... a bit more expensive tho'.

...but I believe there are certain places on the web (don't know where, honest )where you don't have to pay a lot for it at all.

Thumbs up

Windows ME comes with ICS but it wasn't working when I installed ME a few months ago (I spoke to a MS engineer who said the ICS was still full of bugs).
I share a 56k connection between two PCs using a program called All Aboard. Downloaded off the 'net, it cost about £20 and does the trick perfectly.
