Macs,
I would value your opinion on a BUDGET filter upgrade for my MY96WRX to replace the standard item.Is this something that you could supply?.I'm not particularly keen on induction kits but maybe this is just my ignorance of them.Whats my best bet?
(Anyone elses opinion also welcomed)

Also,Do any of you guys use octane booster?
If so what make (is there a difference?),and are there any Downfalls?
Cheers

Depends what you mean by budget. One of the cheaper model's we supply is the Pipercross induction kit which should be fine for a MY96 car. The problems start occurring with later models and their maf sensors.

If you just want a drop in panel filter we should also be able to help. To tell the truth I'm not sure if the MY96 WRX is the same as the later models or not? What size is the filter do you know? We carry a stock of the later items but can get you any one you want.

Paul.

Cool

If you want some good advise m8 get rid of the resonator box between the afm and the turbo.
That bollocks of a box creates some serious air turbulence !!

A replacment element will make jack $hit of a difference over a clean standard one, and if the car is properally serviced it will never get dirty enough that you would notice any difference in power anyway.

Forgot to mention the octane booster, some octane boosters can cause damage to the lambda sensor because of sulphur content so tread carefully.
Damage may not be apparent as the sensor has a large operating scale and may not be seen a faulty by the ecm, therefore damage may not be apparent for a good while after using.

Thanks for making a couple of good points about the octane boosters Maverick.

However i have to disagree about the filters. A replacement panel filter is dyno verified to give up to an extra 8bhp. Now 8bhp may not be major but it is a little help. On the other hand a good induction kit will make a more noticable difference. None of these mods are going to make your car into a supercar overnight but every little helps.

Paul.
