No naff no such problems, should be good for well over a 100,000 regardless of where you drive although towing and bad drivers might shorten the life of it.Stiff pedal though migh not mean the clutch is about to go though?

Hi Naf,
I'm afraid that the clutches and the brakes are the weakest point of our scoobys! :-(
100,000 miles from a clutch??? I'l have 2 of them please ;-)
My last clutch did 12,000 but in my last car I put 4 standard clutches in before 20,000 miles and then i fitted an AP racing clutch. This was really my own fault as the car was highly tuned and the standard clutch is only good for 270 bhp.
Anyway Naf, we've never been able to figure this one outbut as you say after a lot of town driving the clutch becomes very stiff. it normally returns to normal after a few miles. As lego said it might be a release bearing problem but I'm not sure. I think it just becomes stiff when used a lot. mine does this all the time. Spent 5 hours in an around Dublin last Friday and it was a real pain!!!
Let us know what your dealer says.

Hey Macs Power was the 12000 mile clutch the car that did 60 in 3.98 sec? I have seen numerous turbos with over 100,000 and still on the original clutch.Even all the clutches in the 1993 Impreza 1.6s seem pretty fine to me.

No the 12,000 mile clutch was all road use with the exception of one track day.
The 500 mile clutch did the 3.98 secs ;-)
yeah we only got a day from that clutch. But this was to be expected. We were running on super grippy surface on slics and launching from around 4,000!
If you run a "normal" turbo (is there such a thing) then the life of the clutch should be ok but when you start to run 270+ bhp this is where the problem arises. I used to be able to slip the clutch in every gear change on torque alone!!! :-) if you plan doing high rev launches then be prepared to spend.
