Question Insurance again!!!!!!

Ive took the plunge and am going to buy a MY 02 STI Prodrive style with PPP. Now the only problem is insurance, most of the companies I have tried wont quote once they have heard it has a PPP. Those that do are very expensive.

Belview gave me the best price but it was £1800.

Where do the rest of you get your cover from?

Try Autoline - 08452 30 30 30, i'm told they're meant to be pretty good.
Dont try open+direct whatever you do - they gave me a stupid quote of £3450

Sometimes I wish I lived in the mainland regardling insurance. When you read of young bucks in their late 20's getting quotes for STI's with PPP for under 1K. Read the other day of some bloke (early 30's) having his insurance for £630.

Not sure if this sort of thread has been done before, but personally I think that this is a great idea.
1 source of info for companies who will at least quote in NI. Plus I'm sure companies/quotes like open+direct won't actually make the list.

Good luck,

Shaun

OK, don't anyone take this the wrong way or anything......but

What if you had PPP fitted, and you told your insurance company that it was a replacement exhaust instead.

How can anyone actually tell if its been remapped?(Apart from possible dealers and the usual Prodrive/EcuTek etc)
I'm talking about insurance companies and inspectors.

Plus, another thing to point out. My previous car (MY00 UK turbo) had a different exhaust fitted, it unfortunately had a minor accident (my fault, but 1,100 quids worth of damage) and the insurance inspector came to J&W body repairs to inspect the damage.
I nearly shat myself having not declared(not intentionally mind you) the exhaust change(full system) when I heard this, and asked what did he say.
Apparently I was told by J&W that he was only there to make sure that what I reported was true and that I wasn't trying to claim for something else which wasn't actually damaged.
I asked what about the exhaust, and he replied "Those boys aren't in the slightest bit interested in that". Now maybe that was because it was only a 1K claim?

Barry,
Try Autoline - 08452 30 30 30(someone on SN here in N.Ireland is with them).
You should also try Admiral & Elephant - I was with Elephant for year 1, and only switched to Endsleigh in year 2 when they substancially beat Elephant by around £350.......and I'm still with them at the moment.

Seems that way, I don't visit all the time every day, just sometimes.

What about Elephant etc?

Are you in a union, if so then Liverpool Victoria will cover you.

Default Three's a crowd!

Sounds like you two are getting lonely but it's sad state of affairs when
all we have to talk about is bl**dy insurance!

Elephant were best for me but no PPP ( and work this one out - quote was £350 less to add my wife to the poilcy! - I didn't argue.)

On another point, My STI is completely standard, and coming from a car with a scoobysport burble, the new one is relatively completely silent.

Considering buying the PPP tailbox second hand - Do they make a nice noise?

From County Down eh?

I'm also from that part of the world too - Bangor.

The insurance thing is quite funny in a strange sort of way - you put yourself through the same torment every fecking year!

How come something as simple as a website cannot be setup which we add our requirement and then insurance companies can view and 'bid' for you business?

Hello Shaun, we have met on here before, when you
gave me some advise on - gues what - insurance!

Used to live in N'ards until August, Now moving back 'home'

What dealer do you use , I've always dealt with Beechlawn?

Hi Paul,

I use Eden Cars in Carrick. Used to live in Carrick and he's a family friend aswell.
I'm always well looked after with Eden, on my 4th car from then now.

Insurance always pops its head up somewhere.

Is that not basically what a PPP is so why not go with that option?

Or just insure it as standard and hope for the best which is what I reckon a lot of locals do (flame suit well zipped up)

It's that time again :-(

and phoned Endsleigh to get my renewal quote:
" I'm sorry sir but our underwriters will not quote us for it"

Cue large amounts of steam from the ears and the holding in of some very colourful langauge. At one point I was sure I was just going to sell it!

Several hours later and a few phone calls, I got a quote but it is 10% higher than last year, now fair due the manager went out of her way to get me the best quote she could but Feckin h3ll what is going on that we are all being held to ramson just to drive our cars

STI UK PPP '02
29 yrs NO points no accidents

Any good ideas ?

somebody mentioned Caulfields in cookstown on here before 867 66999

A lorry driver that delivers to us has an STi insured through someone in Markethill, the only one I can find in the Yellow pages is Ross insurance 3755 1818. That sounds a bit random but might be worth a call,he's a 04 STI insured for £1200 but is older than you.

Least you haven't given up like some!

Yeah, maybe we should - we'd make a fortune - well at least until the first ****** makes a claim!

PS I'm getting quotes from Admiral on a standard MY05 UK STI for £960!

What the difference between PPP and non standard exhaust + ECU?
I mean at least the PPP bhp is capped & more importantly is standard off the shelf stuff?

But a UK STI with PPP is £1900?
