is the Boss of a 96 sport the same as a 98 STI? given that they are in the 93-99 range of scoobys, as ive found an OMP D1 steering wheel i want.

There is no boss, bosses are integrsal with the OE wheels.

Do you mean will a wheel that fits a 96, say, fit a 98?
if so, the answer is yes, but you need to either place a resisitor across the airbag terminals, or somehow alter the wiring to connect to any airbag in the new wheel, or the light will stay on, which is, from today, an MoT fail.

ah my bad what i meant was, would a boss fitted to a 98 STI fit on a 96 sport, saves me buying a new boss, and they usually sell as OMP boss kits 93-99 so i was just making sure

Yes, it should, but again, whatever they provide for an airbag delete MAY need some wiring.
