Not good to start my first post on a negative note but as above is this a common fault on this year car/seat?its on a sti 04 plate the only way i can adjust it is with a pair of pliers or is there a how to do to fix the fault cheers.

When you say with a pair of pliars how exactly??

If the lever is stiff to the point you need a tool to move it, then I'd say there is either a coin jammed in the mechanism, or the actual mechanism is FUBAR.
