After 5 years of non scooby ownership I am now looking for a Type R but could really do with the rear seats folding. So, from memory I think they are fixed, but could they be swapped out with UK versions? I will need to ability to carry my work tools now and again.

They are fixed Wayne.
To move them you need to unbolt the rear bench (you sit on) and remove. Unbolt the bottom of the back rest part, and it unhooks at the top.
Short answer is no, they dont fold

As above, no they don't. However UK classic rear bench will be a quick, easy and cheap swap

It would. You'll need the nearest match, fabric and colour wise, plus you'll also need all the latches etc Stripping them out of a UK car will show you what goes where.

I fitted split/fold UK Classic seats to my V5 STi, make sure you get all the hinges and latches.

All the holes and fixing points are already there, takes about an hour, it makes the car so much more practical.
