Well, thanks to the fine efforts of a valeter last year, the dashboard on my MY94 STI 1 has now turned a lovely chocolate brown, due to the silicon cleaner not being removed properly. After trying all sorts to remove it, I've ended up making a bad situation worse, so I've decided to remove the entire dashobaord section, from the glove box up, off the car.

The plan is to either paint the existing dashboard a matt black, as grey ain't my colour of choice, or to fit a replacement panel. Now my query is, how easy would it be to remove/re-fit the dashboard ? I've had the instrument panel/heater surrounds out, so I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, but I'd rather not start a job I can't finish ! Anyone ever done this, comments would be welcome.

I think you will find once all the hard work of getting everything out of the way i think there is only a few bolts that hold it in place.

As for painting it i would be inclined to cover it with a black cloth the same that they use in the rallycars it's a bit like suede or something like that.
